'Dark Phoenix' Trailer: The Latest X-Men Installment Has Arrived

The X-Men saga is returning, as the latest installment is Dark Phoenix and the first trailer aired last night during The Late Late Show with James Corden. We are going to get some new details and information into the life of Jean Greay! Check out the Dark Phoenix trailer below!

Previous iterations of Jean Grey's story have always shown her as being overtaken and controlled by her formidable telekinetic powers. Many X-Men fans didn't seem to believe this was the case for Dark Phoenix and it looks like this new movie will be addressing that and it looks like Jean has some very legitimate reasons to be furious! Here is the official synopsis for Dark Phoenix:

In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

As far as Jean being furious, it looks like Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) telepathically supressed a young Jean's memory of killing her own parents by flipping the family car. Xavier seems to think he was doing Jean a good thing, as he says, “I had to keep her stable. I protected her.”

We are going to see Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) transform into Dark Phoenix as the movie progresses. It's not going to be pretty, but it's definitely going to be Xavier's fault. Check out the Dark Phoenix trailer here:

Dark Phoenix hits theaters on February 14, 2019.
