At one time, Eddie Murphy was the biggest movie star out there. He was starring in movie after movie back in the 1980s, but you don't see him as often on the big screen anymore. It looks like Eddie Murphy is heading back behind the camera, but this time for Netflix and a passion project of his, as he is set to portray Rudy Ray Moore.
Apparently Murphy has been wanting to take on this role for a long time now and he will finally get the opportunity. In the role, Murphy will be taking on the role of Dolemite star Rudy Ray Moore. The movie will be called Dolemite Is My Name and it will chronicle the life of the comedian/actor and his portrayal of the kung-fu savvy pimp in the 1970s. Not sure who that is? For Dolemite Is My Name, the Netflix movie will be directed by Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer. He will be working with a script that was written by Big Eyes screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. Murphy is not only starring in this movie, but he will also be producing the film along with John Davis and John Fox.
We haven't seen much from Eddie Murphy lately, as Deadline reported that his last acting role was for his role in Mr. Church in 2016. Before that, it was 2012's A Thousand Words. He is being very picky with his role choices, so it will be intriguing to see how Dolemite Is My Name turns out.Share:
