If you follow action movies, then you know it is always fun and exciting to see big movie stars come together and join forces in an action thriller. That's what happening here, as John Cena will be joining forces with movie legend Jackie Chan for a new action thriller.
John Cena has been on the rise on the big screen, as we have mainly seen him in comedic roles, like in Trainwreck and Blockers. However, his next big role will be in December's Transformers spinoff movie Bumblebee. He's also taking over for Dwayne Johnson in the role of Paul Janson in the Robert Ludlum novel adaptation The Janson Directive, even though Johnson will remain on as a producer.
However, it looks like Cena will be going the action route again, as Act of Valor and Need for Speed director Scott Waugh will direct the movie that was previously called Ex-Baghdad and was co-starring Sylvester Stallone! It is now Project X and will have Jackie Chan starring beside John Cena.
Per CinemaBlend, the movie is about Jackie Chan's character being a private security contractor. He is called in to extract the workers from a Chinese oil refinery in the Middle East when it comes under attack. This is when Chan determines that the terrorists are really thieves and they plan on stealing the oil from the refinery. To stop the plan, Chan will team up with an American and former Marine played by Cena.
Chan has been on the quiet side of things recently, as he was last seen abroad opposite Pierce Brosnan in The Foreigner. However, Jackie Chan is making a return to American screens with Rush Hour 4 and Shanghai Dawn, which are both in development.
