The Olympics are bringing us more than stellar performances and gold medals, as Disney/Pixar released a new trailer for Incredibles 2. This new trailer to Incredibles 2, which is the follow-up to the Oscar-winning animated feature that was released back in 2004, shows us more of the Parr family patriarch Bob (Craig T. Nelson) struggling with fatherhood.
For Incredibles 2, it looks like Bob will be feeling the pressure of solo parenting. His wife, Helen/Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), has been called upon to head a campaign aiming to bring super heroes back. That means Bob is left to watch the kids on his own, which he seems to think he can handle.
In the trailer, Bob says, "I'll watch the kids, no problem." This all takes place before we see Mr. Incredible's alias struggling to help Dash with his homework and falling asleep while reading a bedtime story to Jack-Jack.
Not only is Bob struggling with the solo parenting, he is also dealing with the fact that Jack-Jack's powers are coming to the surface. How do those super powers appear for Jack-Jack? It just so happens from the consumption of cookies and sneezing! Yeah, we might have some super powers ourself if that is the case! As we see, Jack-Jack has the ability to transform into a dad-biting troll-like creature. When he says "achoo," it causes laser beams to shoot out of his eyes. No big deal, right?
Bob is feeling the pressure, but he knows he cannot fail on this one, as there is a lot at stake here. He told Lucius Best/Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) "I've got to succeed so (Elastigirl) can succeed, so we can succeed."
Bob also got a reminder about parenting from Edna Mode (voiced by writer/director Brad Bird). She said, "Done properly, parenting is a heroic act. Done properly."
