It looks like Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be opening up their pocketbooks when the Black Widow is made. Scarlett Johansson has appeared in six movies as Black Widow. However, the Marvel superheroine is finally getting her own standalone movie and Johansson is banking some cash, as The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that she will make $15 million.
To compare, both Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth made that same amount playing Captain America and Thor, respectively, in this year's Avengers: Infinity War. They also each earned $15 million for Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok, respectively, and they will both make the same for the upcoming fourth Avengers movie.
However, this payday for Johannson is a little different. Marvel doesn't typically pay out the big bucks for the first movies. To show you, Robert Downey Jr. made $500,000 for the first Iron Man movie. Chadwick Boseman reportedly made $2 million to star in Black Panther. So, the $15 million paycheck for Johansson is a little odd, but she's also been in six Marvel movies as Black Widow already, so it's not like this is her debut in the role.
We also have Brie Larson making her debut as Captain Marvel next year. She reportedly made $5 million for her debut, but her 2015 Oscar win worked into her deal. Also, she signed a seven-picture deal, so that had to work into the higher debut earnings.
According to THR, multiple sources have confirmed Johansson's salary. A Marvel spokesperson said, "Marvel Studios disputes the accuracy of these numbers, and as a matter of policy, we never publicly disclose salaries or deal terms."Share:
