Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman is taking on a different kind of role, as he will play Gary Hart in The Front Runner. The first trailer for the political drama from Sony was released and it looks like we have a sex scandal on our hands! Oh, how different the time we have, huh?
The Front Runner follows the rise and fall of Senator Hart, who was running for President in 1988 as a Democrat. During the campaign, Hart was considered the frontrunner in the race. However, his campaign was sidelined when an extramarital relationship with Donna Rice came to light. At the time, it was the first merger between tabloid journalism and political journalism. Eventually, Sen. Hart dropped out of the race.
As this first trailer comes to an end, the extramarital affair is about to become headline news, so he warns his wife, played by Vera Farmiga. He says, "There's going to be a story tomorrow about me." Check out the full synopsis for The Front Runner here:
