The Wise Kids, directed by Stephen Cone, is a character-driven coming-of-age story with an incredibly talented young cast. Set in a Baptist church community in Charleston, South Carolina, three teenage best friends contemplate the next stage of life. Brea,(Molly Kunz) is an introspective pastor’s daughter experiencing doubt about her faith; Laura (Allison Torem), is a devout believer; and Tim (Tyler Ross) confronting his homosexuality for the first time. The movie combines comedy and drama indepicting a community that is very repressed but at the same time very understanding.
The performances by these three young actors makes this an indie movie to watch.
